Who We Are
Emmanuel Baptist Church
Emmanuel Baptist Church is a small to medium sized Southern Baptist Church located in Rochester Minnesota. EBC is aligned with the Southern Baptist Convention and participates with more than 50,000 cooperating churches in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serving our community.
Our primary goal is to share the love of Christ, and celebrate all that His love has done in our lives. Our church is dedicated to caring for and educating our church members through fellowship, biblical education, and family activities.
When asked which is the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:36-39, Jesus said; “You should love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” That is followed by “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We declare the love of Jesus by obeying the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Out of love and obedience to Jesus, we endeavor to reach and teach all those we meet who do not know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Emmanuel Baptist Church was founded in the Spring of 1958 beginning with home Bible studies involving several families. In July of that year, the church welcomed its first mission pastor marking the start of regular Sunday School and worship services. Over time, the church grew under the leadership of its first pastor, followed by several other pastors who continued to guide and nurture the congregation. Throughout the years, Emmanuel Baptist Church has remained dedicated to its mission, fostering a strong sense of faith and community. Church construction of the current location began in 1961 and was occupied in 1962. Over the years other additions to the existing structure have grown the footprint of the existing building.
Several mission congregations have been sponsored by Emmanuel over the years. They include congregations in La Crosse, Austin, Marshall, Mankato, Red Wing, Winona and Rochester, and congregations in Hmong, Lao, and Spanish languages. The Emmanuel Lao Church and Emmanuel En Español Church continue to meet in the Emmanuel building.
We have had many active ministries over the years and Emmanuel has provided English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for over 30 years. Currently, we have a lady’s ministry, ladies prayer ministry, music ministry, compassion ministry, fellowship ministry, wedding ministry, men’s club ministry, children’s and youth ministries in addition to our Wednesday evening meal and education ministries. Our church members also help families of the church and in the community with moving assistance. EBC has Sunday morning educational Bible studies for children, youth and adults. Through these ministries, EBC remains dedicated to serving God, strengthening relationships, and meeting the needs of our church and community.
Emmanuel isn’t just a church, “It is Family!” and we truly believe that God guides all that we do. Contact us for additional information.
